Topshop nail varnish has been praised by beauty bloggers like Zoella claiming that the nail varnish is really good quality. I decided to try out the nail varnish for myself, I felt the nail varnish was surprisingly good quality it painted on nicely and I only had to do one coat. The packaging was extremely simple and did not represent the quality of the product. The product is only £5 appealing to all ages. Topshop have a large spectrum of colours and finishes ranging from glossy finishes to matte, Topshop also have many different textures, like glitter and the cracking effect polish, a nail varnish for every girl.

Topshop always include a complimenting nail varnish with all of their makeup looks. Here are the recommended products to achieve the London Fashion week look, nail varnish is as important as the makeup as it completes the look, showing that Topshop think about every aspect from head to toe.
After looking at the collection of nail varnishes I decided that I wanted to use a dark one for my shoot, as I want my nail shoot to have a sultry look to it, an evening look with a twist. Topshop like to play around with makeup often, this is something I feel I have not done yet to a certain extent, I want this shoot to look fun yet an evening look.
I really liked this nail varnish I thought it said evening and fun at the same time
The nail varnish is surprisingly thick and pigmented, it takes a few minutes to dry. I did not have to apply a second coat which is always a good sign of good quality. I feel inspired to create a creative glamourous look to accompany this moonlite nail varnish. A rich dense makeup with some added sparkle.
Trial of the nail varnish
I feel inspired by the ongoing trend contouring and highlighting after going into Topshop and picking up a tutorial of how they recommend applying their contour and highlight pots I decided I would incorporate it into my design, also taking into consideration that my model has a round face this will need to be done to create more dimension to the face.
Topshop have launched their very own contour 'sweep' a cream based product created to create shadows on the face to cause the illusion of chiseled features. With higher end companies such as MAC and Anisita Beverly Hills selling similar products this is a bargain.
I used a concealer shade a few shades darker than my skin tone and a concealer a few shades lighter. Here i applied more contour to my nose and chin as I have a heart shaped face I like to make my chin less prominent.
Using a beauty blender I blended out the concealers making sure they did not merge together. I feel this is such a useful technique that should never come out of trend as it really does make a difference to your face. However you must be careful not to over do it as you are trying to enhance your natural beauty which is what Topshops whole ethos is.
Hair.
This season it is all about the wet sporty look, therefore I wanted to use this within my look, I feel as though it tells the audience this nail varnish is not only for the younger customers but also the older customers can pull off a black glittery nail varnish. You can team it with a elegant hairstyle that also appeals t the fashion savvy buyer as this hair look is rather high fashion.
To create this look I simply straightened the hair and sprayed water on the hair and combed it back, I then went over the hair using a comb and mousse for the style to hold and have a wetter texture for longer.
I felt as though there was something missing, I wanted to create a fun look with the brand I can have a little fun, the bglitter in the nail varnish inspired me to throw a little glitter onto my design make it more playful. After all beauty products like nail polishes really are about self expression.I am trying to communicate the playful side, yet high fashion side of Topshop.
I then added glitter in the hair and hairline around the face I feel this looks more playful and says I know how to have fun and I am fabulous It communicates confidence..
Overall mood.
For my overall mood I was inspired by textures, like glitter and metallics I wanted to explore both ways of creating a look with metallic and glitter textures by using glitter in the hair for a more playful twist, and a sultry metallic eye for the more serious customer. This look is perfect for festivals and parties.
Makeup and hair moodboard.
For the makeup and hair moodboard I have chosen images that reflect the look I am looking to create, I want the makeup to be sultry with a matte lip and skin, with contrasting textures from the metallic eyes and glitter. I have choen to use earth colours such as copper and a walnut brown on the eyes contrasting with a cool nude lip perfect for autumn. I also looked at poses that could compliment both nails and makeup in a natural way.
For this look I have opted to create a smokey copper eye to accommodate the nails as the nail varnish has speckles of copper glitter in them. I feel a nude lip and smokey copper eyes works well together for a festive party look and can be easily pulled off to go to a concert, party or festival. I love the eye colour but feel it does not suit my skin tone so much. But after careful consideration I feel the colour will suit my model!
This design is meant to be sultry yet fun with a hint of glitter, the Topshop girl is creative and seductive she loves experimenting with textures when it comes to makeup and her nails as well as her clothes. This look could be worn at a concert.

Overall I am extremely happy with the images I feel the model has the perfect face to carry off this look she is also very similar to a Topshop unique model which is why I chose her. I feel the lighting compliments the makeup well, as well as the glitter in the hair, however due to the pigment of the glitter the ear does look a little grubby due to lighting.
