Assessment.

This is my makeup trial of my SS15 look that I want to re-create for my assessment.
For my assessment i wanted to recreate my SS15 look however there were some elements I wanted to change to suit the model, the hair and the intensity of the freckles. As I feel this will suit my model more, my model also has a fair skin tone so I am hoping that the intensity of the colours will show up better on a white background and her fair skin.

Mood boards.
The overall feel of my look is inspired by the freshness of an english summer of which if often associated by fresh daises, and fresh citrus fruits. I can show this through a clean fresh base, natural brows, and a deep pink toned plum glossy slightly smudged lip.  The look is not intended to be clean cut but fresh and interesting.

For my makeup and hair moodboard I wanted to communicate my look, using fresh faces, beautiful freckles, natural brows, a pop of colour under the eyes perhaps mocking the recent over highlighted eye area makeup trend, a glossy imperfect deep pink plum lip almost as if there are crushed berries on the lips. I want to create a loose messy knot plait as if my model has been running through fields and swinging on the swings in the park on a fresh warm summers day, as it looks effortless and carefree.

Face and hair charts.

Product List.
Primer:Illamasqua Satin base.
Foundation:MAC Face&body.
Concealer:MAC Prolongwear concealer.
MACfixing spray.
Contour:Laura Mercier bronzer.
Blusher:NARS orgasam.
Lip liner:MAC Half red.
Lipstick:Kroylan LC010.
Brows:MAC Brunette.
Eyeshadow:Kroylan warm walnut.
Mascara:Urban Decay.
Freckles:Topshop Freckle Pen.

For the hair I wanted to create a messy knot plait. this is a typical messy knot plait, however I did not feel as though it suited my brand.

I decided to create a much more loose version of the knot plait and began to pull pieces out to create my desired look. I feel this suits the brand much more it looks more raw and high fashion than the above knotted plait.

Overall I quite like my images, I wanted the fresh face and orange dots to be the main focus of this look. The look is inspired by SS15 trends of a mixture of catwalks. However if I could do this again I would even out the lips more, as my model had quite uneven lips making it rather difficult to make the outer corners symmetrical. I also should of placed the dots more into the center under the eye although this would of been extremely difficult to do I could of marked dots on the face with a white eyeliner.

Topshop additional look.

Topshop beauty is a rather small brand in comparison to more established brands therefore there was only one additional product I could use to shoot, nail varnish.

Topshop nail varnish has been praised by beauty bloggers like Zoella claiming that the nail varnish is really good quality. I decided to try out the nail varnish for myself, I felt the nail varnish was surprisingly good quality it painted on nicely and I only had to do one coat. The packaging was extremely simple and did not represent the quality of the product. The product is only £5 appealing to all ages. Topshop have a large spectrum of colours and finishes ranging from glossy finishes to matte, Topshop also have many different textures, like glitter and the cracking effect polish, a nail varnish for every girl.

Polyvore,. 'Nail Polish (Topshop) By Unbroken1313 On Polyvore'. N.p., 2015. Web. 4 May 2015.
A popular collection was Fashion designer Louise Greys nail collection it consisted of bright, vivid colours with coloured speckles of glitter. Topshop do tend to stock certain colours and textures depending on the season. warmer colours tend to be used in the summer where as cool colours and metallic tend to be used in the winter.
Google.co.uk,. 'Images - Google Search'. N.p., 2015. Web. 4 May 2015.
Topshop like fashion are keeping up to date with the latest nail trends introducing matching collections gel lips, cheek tint and nail varnish. The product looks clean and simple and is priced the same as the normal nail varnishes.
Polyvore,. 'TOPSHOP Nail Polish "Causing A Stir"'. N.p., 2015. Web. 4 May 2015.
Topshop always include a complimenting nail varnish with all of their makeup looks. Here are the recommended products to achieve the London Fashion week look, nail varnish is as important as the makeup as it completes the look, showing that Topshop think about every aspect from head to toe.

After looking at the collection of nail varnishes I decided that I wanted to use a dark one for my shoot, as I want my nail shoot to have a sultry look to it, an evening look with a twist. Topshop like to play around with makeup often, this is something I feel I have not done yet to a certain extent, I want this shoot to look fun yet an evening look.
I really liked this nail varnish I thought it said evening and fun at the same time

The nail varnish is surprisingly thick and pigmented, it takes a few minutes to dry. I did not have to apply a second coat which is always a good sign of good quality. I feel inspired to create a creative glamourous look to accompany this moonlite nail varnish. A rich dense makeup with some added sparkle.

Trial of the nail varnish

I feel inspired by the ongoing trend contouring and highlighting after going into Topshop and picking up a tutorial of how they recommend applying their contour and highlight pots I decided I would incorporate it into my design, also taking into consideration that my model has a round face this will need to be done to create more dimension to the face.

Topshop have launched their very own contour 'sweep' a cream based product created to create shadows on the face to cause the illusion of chiseled features.  With higher end companies such as MAC and Anisita Beverly Hills selling similar products this is a bargain.
I used a concealer shade a few shades darker than my skin tone and a concealer a few shades lighter.
Here i applied more contour to my nose and chin as I have a heart shaped face I like to make my chin less prominent.
Using a beauty blender I blended out the concealers making sure they did not merge together. I feel this is such a useful technique that should never come out of trend as it really does make a difference to your face. However you must be careful not to over do it as you are trying to enhance your natural beauty which is what Topshops whole ethos is.

Hair.
This season it is all about the wet sporty look, therefore I wanted to use this within my look, I feel as though it tells the audience this nail varnish is not only for the younger customers but also the older customers can pull off a black glittery nail varnish. You can team it with a elegant hairstyle that also appeals t the fashion savvy buyer as this hair look is rather high fashion.

To create this look I simply straightened the hair and sprayed water on the hair and combed it back, I then went over the hair using a comb and mousse for the style to hold and have a wetter texture for longer.

I felt as though there was something missing, I wanted to create a fun look with the brand I can have a little fun, the bglitter in the nail varnish inspired me to throw a little glitter onto my design make it more playful. After all beauty products like nail polishes really are about self expression.I am trying to communicate the playful side, yet high fashion side of Topshop.
I then added glitter in the hair and hairline around the face I feel this looks more playful  and says I know how to have fun and I am fabulous It communicates confidence..

Overall mood.

For my overall mood I was inspired by textures, like glitter and metallics I wanted to explore both ways of creating a look with metallic and glitter textures by using glitter in the hair for a more playful twist, and a sultry metallic eye for the more serious customer. This look is perfect for festivals and parties.

Makeup and hair moodboard.

For the makeup and hair moodboard I have chosen images that reflect the look I am looking to create, I want the makeup to be sultry with a matte lip and skin, with contrasting textures from the metallic eyes and glitter. I have choen to use earth colours such as copper and a walnut brown on the eyes contrasting with a cool  nude lip perfect for autumn. I also looked at poses that could compliment both nails and makeup in a natural way.

For this look I have opted to create a smokey copper eye to accommodate the nails as the nail varnish has speckles of copper glitter in them. I feel a nude lip and smokey copper eyes works well together for a festive party look and can be easily pulled off to go to a concert, party or festival. I love the eye colour but feel it does not suit my skin tone so much. But after careful consideration I feel the colour will suit my model!

This design is meant to be sultry yet fun with a hint of glitter, the Topshop girl is creative and seductive she loves experimenting with textures when it comes to makeup and her nails as well as her clothes. This look could be worn at a concert.

Product list:
Primer:Illamasqua matte base.
Foundation:Krylan cream base shade 3.
Concealer:NC20
Contour:shade 10 contour palette
Eyeshadow:Kroylan Copper and Walnut,Pearl.
Pigment:Vintage MAC.
Brow pencil:Spiked.
Mascara:Urban decay.
Powder:Illamasqua Loose powder.
Lips:MAC Honey Love.

Overall I am extremely happy with the images I feel the model has the perfect face to carry off this look she is also very similar to a Topshop unique model which is why I chose her. I feel the lighting compliments the makeup well, as well as the glitter in the hair, however due to the pigment of the glitter the ear does look a little grubby due to lighting.

SS15 Makeup.

To begin my design process I re-looked over Topshops SS15 range. To get the idea fresh in my head.

YouTube,. 'Topshop Unique SS15: Access All Areas'. N.p., 2015. Web. 13 Apr. 2015.

I also looked at other designers ss15 collections to get inspiration and to get an idea of the hair and makeup trends not just in Topshop but that are popular with other designers.

Balmain the makeup and and hair is very simple and sleek following the sporty hair and makeup look of sweaty skin and hair, but glamourous sweaty of course.
Looking at some of Carolina Herrera pieces this summer are very bright and cool colours. The makeup and hair is very fresh and beautiful, fresh bronzed skin, neutral eyes and a warm satin red lip, the hair is very sleek and almost looks as though she has just got out of the pool and has tied the hair up.

I also looked at colour palettes for SS15 trends the hues of the colours usually change depending on the season. Forecasted for the summer season you can see dusty pinks and warm browns and oranges, cool blues and a strong lime colour. The texture of the accessories seem to be shiny rather than matte.

Looking at the colour palettes and textures has encouraged me to play with bright colours, clean skin and hair and try shiny textures rather than matte as this seems to be on trend and signify summer.

An SS15 trend that has its way back from the likes of Twiggy in the 60's is the thick mascara and dots under the lashes as seen on Peter Soms SS15 catwalk and I love the trend, its a subtle way of putting creativity into your makeup perfect for a festival or a summer party. After seeing this trend it has inspired me to out it into my makeup.

Val Garland for SS15 Preen was all about freckles! You know those annoying dots that come out in the sun? Well this summer it is time to embrace what mother nature gave you! I love this look it is so fresh and pretty! I want my look to have a fresh base, with a pop of creativity and natural beauty.

Tom Ford SS15 showcased beautiful natural almost groomed brows of which I feel inspired to try out in my design
Topshop being a company that displays natural beauty I feel as if this will fit my brand well.
To create this look I gently penciled in a few strokes of brow powder where my brow was sparse I then used a disposable mascara wand to push the hairs up, for the hairs to stay I used hair spray onto the mascara wand.

Here I have trialed out the freckle pen of which I love! It is achievable to create natural looking freckles on your skin when considering placement. However  must remember to press gently otherwise the freckles can come out too dark and look like moles.

Topshop have brought out their very own freckle pencil to go alongside the freckle trend. I think this is a brilliant addition to their on going collection it shows that they are very much on trend and are on of the very few makeup companies to supply them showing their creativity and uniqueness.
When looking at hair and makeup although I am focusing on a Topshop look I felt as though this look was very much Topshop. i love their take on slicked back hair, the makeup is minimal and just perfect, I am obsessed with perfect bases as I feel the skin is the most important feature to get right.Reed Krakoff.

Kimberly Ovitz had their models sporting pulled out knot and fishtail plaits, which was another look that I also was really drawn to and felt it had a Topshop vibe to it.

Sleek low and high ponys are still very much on trend as showcased on catwalks, I feel this style is perfect for my advertisement as everyone can recreate this hair style and be on trend at the same time.

Whilst trialing a sleek ponytail I found straightening the hair easier than blow drying it straight. I also found it easier to use hair mousse to get the wet look.

Overall mood

My overall mood is inspired by the essence of summer fruit cocktails in the sun, freckles being brought out by the sun, fresh flowers, bright warm colours and smudged berry lips. I want to create a look inspired by a classic British summer, with a high fashion twist. As Topshops concept is very much high fashion street style and I need to communicate this to apply to all of the consumers.

My makeup and hair moodboard is inspired by high fashion trends that are fun and wearable almost a look you could pull off at a festival yet look high fashion at the same time. The sleek ponytail perfect for any occasion, fresh freckles, smudged berry lip adding a popo of colour under the eyes other than concealer.

I began by trialling Peter Soms take on the under eye dot but felt as though this was not the mood I wanted to convey.

I feel the bronzed natural skin, messy plum lip, messy brows and orange dot under the eye was more fun and said SS15 more so than the black dot.  I do not want the brows to be perfect or the lips, I hope this comes across as if it is purposely done instead of badly created.

My SS15 design is catwalk inspired onto the high street just like Topshop this beauty look can be worn to a festival or to go into town shopping, its fresh off the runway and onto the high street, this look is not only for the brave, but encourages all Topshop customers to create a daring look using Topshops own freckle pen.

For my shoot I wanted to demonstrate a fresh makeup look with a contrasting background to bring out the makeup. Showing that the  SS15 look can be worn at more than the catwalk. I like my look although I feel as though the freckles were not as strong as they could be although it does look natural, I also could of chnaged the lighting to make the orange dots under the eyes stand out more.
