Topshop Day makeup look.

After looking at many Topshop day looks I began to understand that their day look is very natural, the minimal makeup look. Their day looks usually consist of beautiful skin, meaning the skin and blush as the main focus.  I looked at the different skin finishes and thought about how i wanted my look to look.

I looked at Topshops day makeup looks. One that particularly interested me was SS14 day look which contained shimmer and a pink lip which is very different to this summers look. This seasons looks are a lot more natural. Although this look is fairly natural there are traits from previous looks that I can use to create my own design based on the brand. I love the dewy skin, soft brows and shimmery eyes. The hair is in a obvious side parting, the hair almost looks wet and looks as if it has been scrunched with a styling product.

Looking at this image I find the makeup to be very casual, very natural a perfect daytime look for the brand. From this look the eyes are a subtle soft smokey eye, with peachy blush and a nude skin again the makeup is very natural this is for a SS15 advertisement. The hair looks effortless and wavy.

When I think of Topshop day makeup the words fresh, gentle and beautiful spring to mind. All of the makeup looks extremely refreshing and just effortless so that is the type of look I want to create an effortless look. Including the hair it looks as if little has been done to the hair.

When looking at Daytime images for AW14 range I noticed that neutrals were very much the colour palette for the day look image.  I feel as though the SS15 day look and the AW14 day looks are very similar in the sense that they are both very natural looking. This was not only shown in their makeup but on the AW14 catwalk. Very cool tones are used creating a harmonious look. This can be shown through makeup by using harmonious tones and a neutral palette.

Playing with products.

Now I have an idea of how I want my daytime look, I am not only going to start to experiment on myself and on face charts but I am also going to play with products to get the effect that I want.

Here I have selected a few of my favorite products to create natural, dewy skin. Superdrugs Radiance booster moisturiser and Almond oil. If I have dry skin I usually apply a drop to my foundation not only does it thin the product, it also creates a healthy glow that doesn't look greasy.

Here is the foundation I used in the image above it is perfect fr dewy skin, it gives a light to medium coverage and  dewy finish. I feel this product works great with dry skin as it is filled with minerals and claims to be a moisturizing foundation.

To achieve a glow I think highlighter is essential. Here I have swatched different consistencies. From liquid, to cream to powder to show which one I feel will suit the look I am going for more. As you can see there are pink toned highlighters and gold. I find pink looks amazing on both tanned and pale skin but would not be ideal on a fair skin for the photoshoot as it will show up on camera. Where as the gold toned highlighters look more natural on the skin as you can see.

I feel as though the MAC frost will work better under lighting etc in a studio it seems to blend seamlessly into the skin, I think I will use this on my shoot.

Above are the products I used to create this simple glowing look. Here I wanted to achieve soft looking dewy skin, a soft contour, light warm shimmer on the eyes, natural brows and lashes and rosy pink cheeks. This look on me does not fit my brand but I feel on another face perhaps a fairer skin would look much better.

Base.

The base needs to be natural and have a glow to it. Fro previous sessions I understand this means good skin care and careful application. There are some products that I personally love L'oreal skin range. MAC CC cream, foundation I am going to try MAC Face and Body as this is a sheer, dewy foundation that is a light coverage that I can build easily. For the highlighter I will trial several products to see which one gives me the best outcome possible. I want the cheeks to be a pretty delicate pink.

For the eyes I have decided to use a gold shimmer to add to the glow effect like on the video. The brows are natural also like the video. For the lips I wanted to keep it simple so I have gone with a nude lip, as I want the skin to be the main focus.

I am not really to pleased with this look as I feel as though it doesn't suit the brand, I like the glow of the skin but I feel as though the whole look is not suitable, the washy gold eyes and nude lips. It doesn't say minimal makeup, it just looks as though my models skins shiny, which is not the effect I am looking for.

After experimenting with natural look I have decided I would like to create a look based on the Topshop unique AW14 as I love neutral colours, I feel as though it is important to have a natural makeup look especially with Topshop, I also feel as though natural makeup is often harder to achieve than a graphic eye, as everything has to be spot on. I hope my final outcome will showcase my skills on creating a perfect base, as this will be my main focus.
